SETTING UP YOUR
S AVE-TO-DISK FILE ALLOCAT I O N
Your notebook comes with an all oc a ti on
of s p ace on the internal hard drive adequ a te
to opera te the Save - to - Disk functi on for the
amount of m em ory install ed at the factory. If
you add a mem ory upgrade modu l e or do not
use the Save - to - Disk functi on and wish to free
up the disk space you wi ll need to ch a n ge yo u r
a ll oc a ti on . The uti l i ty to ch a n ge the all oc a ti on s
is PH D I S K.EXE and is activa ted from the
M S - DOS prom pt .
PHDISK all ows you to perform five di eren t
f u n cti ons rel a ted to the Save - to - Disk space on
your internal hard drive . Th ey are :
1 . All oc a te a space for the Save - to - Disk functi on .
2 . Rem ove all space all oc a ti on for the Save - to -
Disk functi on .
3 . Find out details abo ut the hard drive and the
c u rrent Save - to - Disk space all oc a ti on .
4 . Re - a ll oc a te space and mark bad bl ocks in the
s p ace all oc a ted to the Save - to - Disk functi on
wh en a disk error has occ u rred .

5 . Find out how mu ch space is needed to
perform the Save - to - Disk functi on with the
c u rrent mem ory con fig u ra ti on and how
mu ch unu s ed space is ava i l a ble on the
i n ternal hard drive .
To find out how much space is needed to
perform the Save-to-Disk function with the
current memory configuration and how much
unused space is available on the internal hard
drive, do the following:
1 . Re s t a rt your notebook in MS-DOS mode
( DO N OT go to the MS-DOS prom pt inside
Wi n dows 95).
2 . At the DO S prom pt type CD C:\Fujitsu
3 . Type P H D I S K .
4 . Press the E n t e r key.
5 . The screen wi ll display the amount disk space
n eeded to perform the Save - to - Disk functi on
with the current mem ory con fig u ra ti on and
h ow mu ch unu s ed space is ava i l a ble on the
i n ternal hard drive .
To find out details abo ut the h a rd drive and

do the fo ll owi n g :
1 . Re s t a rt your notebook in MS-DOS mode

4 . Press the E n t e r key.

and the hard drive .

Disk functi on , do the fo ll owi n g :
1 . Re s t a rt your notebook in MS-DOS mode
