How to Create a New Segment
There are two types of real segments:
• PRBS/PRWS segments and
• memory segments.
PRBS/PRWS segments contain pseudo random data in bitstream or
wordstream format. Pseudo random data is defined by the generating
polynomial.
Memory segments contain a user-defined data pattern.
Both types are created and can be edited with the Segment Editor.
N O TE Note that any new or modified segment needs to be saved on disk (see
"How to Save a New or Changed Segment" on page 166).

How to Start Creating a New Segment

To start the New Segment dialog:
1 Open the File menu and choose New Segment.
You start with the defaults as shown in the figure below.

If the Sequence Editor or Data/Sequence Editor is displayed, you can
also open the context menu of the segment you wish to replace and
choose New Segment. In this case, the block and port characteristics are
already filled in.
