Fresnel Zone
Just having a direct line of connection between transmitter and receiver without
any obstacles is not enough to ensure the maximum radio range (open air) is
reached.
There must also be a certain surrounding open area, known as the Fresnel zone.
In spatial terms, the Fresnel zone is an ellipsoid.
The greatest widening of the ellipsoid falls at the center point of the connection
line. Thus, to achieve maximum ranges, there must not be any prominent
obstacle at this position.
