Troubleshooting

Problem
Engine will not start
Engine runs
erratically
Drum does not rotate
Drum does not
vibrate
Drum does not return
to neutral

Cause
No fuel
No spark
Low oil level
Dirty air cleaner
No fuel
Dirty engine
Drum is obstructed
Too much oil in exciter
The hydrostatic transmission is
not engaged
Drive belt is loose or broken
Faulty hydrostatic transmission
Control linkage is disconnected
or broken
Shaft keys are sheared
Exciter belt is broke
Improper clutch adjustment
Control linkage is disconnected
or broken
Neutral position on the
transmission is not set.
Remedy
Fill the fuel tank and open the
fuel valves.
Connect the spark plug and/or
replace it.
Fill the engine with oil
Clean the air filter
Check the fuel level. Open the
fuel valve.
Remove deposits built up in the

engine

Remove the drum obstruction
Check/repair the hydrostatic
transmission release valve and
camshaft.
Tighten or replace the belt.
Check the transmission oil
level. Fill the gear case with oil.
Check the transmission oil
level. Fill the gear case with oil.
Connect or repair the control
linkage.
Replace the shaft keys. Check
the function of actuator lever
on the transmission and the
drive pulleys.
Replace the exciter belt
Correct the clutch adjustment
Connect or repair the linkage
Adjust the neutral position on
the transmission.
