4.1 OVERVIEW
4 ACCEPTANCE/PERIODIC TESTS
It is important to remember to select Send End from the LPS-O Settings list menu after all settings changes for
a particular test are complete. This is necessary because settings are stored in a buffer so that they can all be
downloaded at once. Selecting Send End will complete the settings download to the relay.
i) ENTERING TEST MODE
Before most tests it is necessary to set the relay in test mode according to the function to be tested. The test
mode is set as follows:
1. Select Connect from the Device menu.
2. Select the TEST device name and click OK. LPSO-Link will prompt for a password.
3. Enter the Master Level password created after initial login to the relay. If the password is not known, see
Chapter 8: LOCAL USER INTERACE for details on viewing the current password.
4. Select Relay Test from the Actions menu. The Relay Test list box appears.
5. Select the test you wish to enter from the menu and then select Do Test.
6. The Status LED changes from green to red when the LPS-O is in test mode.

j) EXITING TEST MODE
To end test mode and turn relay protection on, select End Test Mode from the Relay Test list box and then
select Do Test. The Status LED changes from red to green, indicating that normal operation has resumed.
k) INITIAL TEST SETUP
Before beginning a test, the relay settings should be checked for reference and verification. The factory default
settings are listed in Sections 2.5.2 PROTECTION SETTINGS GUIDE and 2.5.3 GENERAL SETTINGS
GUIDE on pages 2–44 to 2–54. You may use either the communications ports or scroll through the settings to
ensure they all match the defaults.
For testing with LPSO-Link, the relay settings should be uploaded from the LPS-O and printed for reference
and verification. Verify that each LPS-O setting matches the default setting listed. If no printer is available, use
the Device > Settings command for verification.
Once uploaded, the current LPS-O settings can be saved to a disk file so that they can be downloaded to the
LPS-O when testing is completed. Use the Save command after the device settings have been uploaded.
LPSO-Link prompts for a name for the file, after which you should enter a valid MS-DOS filename (maximum of
eight characters followed by the SET extension). More information on how to use this command can be found
in Chapter 11: LPSO-LINK USER GUIDE.
