13 XPRESSION BUILDER
13.4 CREATING XPRESSION BUILDER LOGIC
Configurable logic can be quickly created and downloaded to the relay using the following three steps:
1. Using LPSO-Link, upload the Configurable Logic file for the desired settings groups. This action will shift
you to the Xpression Builder application.
2. Execute the required changes in Xpression Builder as described in Section 13.4.3: DESIGNING XPRES-
SION BUILDER LOGIC
3. Compile and download the expression using the utility in Xpression Builder.
The first step in changing the relay logic is to upload the existing logic. This is done from the LPSO-Link Set-
tings menu. Ensure that you are logged on with at least the settings password at this point. Clicking Config-
urable Logic with the mouse will lead to a group selection dialog box. Select OK for the active settings group or
enter the desired group number and select OK. This will lead to the LPSO-Link application opening the Xpres-
sion Builder routine and making it the active application. The resultant screen will appear similar to Figure 13–
10: CONTACT CONVERTER INPUTS (CC) on page 13–14. You are now ready to begin configurable logic
design.
In the Xpression Builder program, Select File followed by New. A menu window for ALPS / LPS / DFP200
options will be displayed as shown in Figure 13–9: CREATING A NEW FILE. For examination purposes, select
LPS 3-Pole Configurable Logic. A working screen will be displayed for an LPS-O three-phase tripping unit.
The next step in the design of configurable logic is to determine the need for digital inputs. Typical inputs
assigned to contact converters are channel receivers and 52_b contacts. Other inputs can come from external
contacts, other relay outputs, or the feedback of one of the LPS-O outputs to an input. The list of available con-
tact converter input assignments can be found in Table 13–2: CONTACT CONVERTER INPUT FLAGS on
page 13–8. In effect, this process does nothing more than associate a given digital input with a name that
Xpression Builder can use. Selection of the contact converter (CC) box, for example CC1, with the left mouse
