Rotating the MultiMACS Cell24 Magnet and MultiMACS Column Holder

The MultiMACS Cell24 Separator Plus is equipped with an extremely powerful magnet, the MultiMACS Cell24
Magnet. Keep this magnet at a distance of at least 20 cm from any magnetic information carriers such as
credit cards, magnetic tapes, and storage media, and from any electronic equipment, such as hearing aids,
pacemakers, brain shunts, measuring and control instruments, computers, and watches. These items may be
affected or damaged by the extremely powerful magnetic field. The force of attraction between two magnets
or between a magnet and magnetically attractable material increases strongly the closer they get. Thus, keep
any magnetic material – including any other MultiMACS Cell24 Magnet and Display – at a safe distance. Keep
away from all moving parts!
The MultiMACS Cell24 Magnet and MultiMACS Column Holder are mounted in landscape orientation by default.
If necessary, change the orientation into portrait. The following process can also be used to remove the
MultiMACS Cell24 Magnet for cleaning.
To prepare rotation of the MultiMACS Cell24 Magnet and MultiMACS Column Holder do the following.
1 Tap SET UP in the Start menu.
2 Tap PREFERENCES .

3 Tap EXCHANGE MAGNET . The MultiMACS Cell24 Magnet will move to the middle exchange position while
the MultiMACS Column Holder is locked in the top position.
4 Wait until READY FOR MAGNET EXCHANGE. SWITCH DEVICE OFF. is shown.
5 Switch off and unplug the instrument.
6 Unscrew all four knurled screws of the MultiMACS Cell24 Magnet and the MultiMACS Column Holder.
7 Remove the MultiMACS Cell24 Magnet and the MultiMACS Column Holder.
