MECHA TROUBLE
Detection block: Position sensor (HP-131 board)
Contents:
A thermal head does not reach the home position, tray position, media transport posi-
tion, or print position during head motor rotation.
Possible cause 1: Defective head position motor, SU-114 board, or position sensor (HP-131 board)
Possible cause 2: Defective connector (CN403) on MEC-33 board and defective connector (CN1) on
HP-131 board, or defective harness connecting these connectors
Detection block: Cutter position right/left detection switch (cutter unit)
Contents:
A cutter cannot be moved to the initial position (the left) during initialization of a
cutter position in mechanical reset.
Possible cause 1: Defective motor or switch of cutter unit
Possible cause 2: Defective harness connecting the connectors (CN203 and CN402) on the MEC-33
board and a cutter unit
Possible cause 3: The movement of a cutter was disturbed due to the internally remaining print paper.
Detection block: CUTE3 (IC307 on the MA-140 board) and driver IC for STM (IC300 on the MEC-33
board)
Contents:
Print paper is not transported during YMCL print operation.
Possible cause 1: Defective stepping motor or drive block
Possible cause 2: Defective CUTE3 (IC307 on the MA-140 board) and driver IC for STM (IC300 on the
MEC-33 board), or defective harness and fl exible fl at cable connecting these boards
JAMMING
Detection block: PE sensor (PE-42/43 board) and PJ sensor (PE-44 board)
Contents:
Paper jamming was detected during mechanical reset.
Jamming occurred during paper load and eject.
Possible cause 1: Print paper jamming
Possible cause 2: Defective or dirty PE and PJ sensors
Possible cause 3: Dirty or worn roller for transporting print paper or defective block around a roller
Possible cause 4: Defective stepping motor or drive block
Possible cause 5: Cutter unit-related defects
RIBBON ERROR
Detection block: Ribbon FG sensor (SE-840 board), Y start mark detection block (RM-207/208 board),
and MCL start mark detection block (RM-209/210 board)
Contents:
Paper jamming or ribbon exhaustion occurred during print.
The YMCL sensing of a ribbon failed.
Possible cause 1: Damaged ink ribbon
Possible cause 2: Ribbon FG sensor-related defects
Possible cause 3: Ribbon drive assembly-related defects
