1-6-13. Thermal Head

. When the white streaks appears in print, it may be caused by adhesion of dust or others. Perform the
cleaning of the thermal head before replacement. (Refer to Sections 1-10 and 2-2-1.)
. After replacing the thermal head, the adjustment is required. (Refer to Section 2-2.)
Before replacing the thermal head, be sure to output the test pattern (16STEP) to be used as the refer-
ence. For details, refer to "Operation during Replacement of Parts" in Section 2-1, and Section 2-2.
. After removing the thermal head, make sure that the center shim is attached. When it is attached on the
heat sink, remove it from the heat sink.
. When installing the fl exible fl at cable, take care not to bend it.
Removal
1. Remove the cabinet. (Refer to Section 1-4.)
2. Remove the PSW cover and power supply mounting bracket.
(Refer to steps 4 and 7 in Section 1-6-1.)

Do not disconnect the harness to print during assembling.
3. Remove the top chassis assembly. (Refer to step 4 in Section 1-6-9.)
4. Disconnect the harness and fl exible fl at cable from the
connector on the thermal head.
5. Remove the two screws (PSW3 x 12), then remove the
thermal head.
6. Remove the center shim from the thermal head.

Keep the center shim so as not to lost.
