1. Clean a thermal head. (Refer to Section 2-2-1.)
2. Print a test pattern (16STEP). (Refer to Section 2-2-2.)
When the test pattern (16STEP) is unable to be printed, prepare it printed by the proper set.

Check the print which has a symptom as a user is pointing out.
Also, store the test pattern because it is used as reference during comparison of density.
3. Replace the thermal head. (Refer to Section 1-6-13.)
4. Sets a thermal head resistance value. (Refer to Section 2-2-3.)
5. Print a test pattern (16STEP). (Refer to Section 2-2-2.)
6. Compare the test patterns before and after replacing the thermal head.
7. Perform the adjustment below as required.
. Perform the thermal head position adjustment. (Refer to Section 2-2-4.)
. Perform the density adjustment. (Refer to Section 2-2-5.)
8. Reset the print history of the head. (Refer to Section 2-2-6.)

2-2-1. Thermal Head Cleaning

Tools
. Alcohol for cleaning
. Soft cloth
Procedure
1. Turn off the power of this unit.
2. Remove the cabinet. (Refer to Section 1-4.)
3. Remove the top chassis assembly. (Refer to step 4 in Section 1-6-9.)
4. Wipe the thermal head surface gently with soft cloth moistened with alcohol.

5. Assemble this unit in the reverse order of steps 2 and 3.
