SEATING & SAFETY RESTRAINTS
WARNING
Never drive with your arm or head out of
the window as this will place your arm,
head and neck in the path of the side
airbag deployment area.
Do not place any objects between the
side airbag and the door the airbag might
not inflate properly or it might force the
object into the cabin area causing death
or serious injury.
Do not attach or put anything on the side
airbag cover as this may cause the airbag
not to inflate properly.
After deployment the side airbag deflates
rapidly to minimise any obstruction to the
occupants and reduce any danger of suf-
focation.
After airbag inflation, you may see what
looks like smoke, but is likely to be powder
from the airbag surface used to aid smooth
deployment. Although the powder is not
harmful, people with respiratory problems
may experience some temporary discom-
fort. If this occurs, get out of the car if pos-
sible as soon as it is safe to do so.

WARNING
Airbag system components remain hot
after inflation. Do not touch them after
inflation.

Replacing Airbag System Components

After any airbag deployment, the deployed
airbags, electronic control unit and seat
belt tensioners if activated must be re-
placed by a Lotus dealer or other suitably
qualified organisation.
WARNING
For up to 20 seconds after the igni-
tion has been turned off and the bat-
tery disconnected, an airbag can still
inflate if improper servicing occurs.
Airbag system components should be
serviced only by an authorised Lotus deal-
er or other suitably qualified person.
A crash can damage the restraint systems
in your car. A damaged restraint system
may not properly protect the person using
it. To ensure your restraint systems are
working properly after a crash, have them
inspected and any necessary replace-
ments made as soon as possible.

Child Restraints

WARNING
Lotus strongly recommends that chil-
dren are not carried in the front seat of
an Evora.
Accident statistics show that children are
safer when properly restrained in the back
seats of cars, an option available on 2+2
versions of the Lotus Evora.
The standard seat and seat belt should
be used when a child is of a physical size
whereby the standard fitment lap and di-
agonal seat belt will fit satisfactorily, with
the belt positioned over the collar bone and
against the center of the chest.
A suitable booster cushion or child seat
should be used if the belt touches or
crosses the child's neck or if required by
law. This advice also applies to any adult
of small stature.
The suitability of any such aftermarket
equipment for use in the Evora should be
determined by the owner, the child seat
supplier and the child seat manufacturer.
