Headlamps

The Evora is fitted with High Intensity
Discharge (HID) headlamp assemblies for
optimal illumination.
Each headlamp unit uses a D1S electronic
igniter/burner unit (equivalent to the bulb)
to provide both main and dip beams.
A ballast unit outputs around 20,000
volts to the burner, although the power
consumption is only 35 Watts.
WARNING
The high voltages produced by the
headlamp ballast unit could cause an
electric shock. Ensure the battery is
disconnected before servicing a headlamp
assembly.

To Replace the Burner Unit
- Disconnect the battery (see page 106) to
protect from electric shocks.
- Remove the access cover in the wheelarch
liner and pull off the protective boot from
the back of the headlamp housing.
- Release the retaining spring wire clip
and withdraw the burner sufficiently to
allow the H.T. cable to be unplugged.
Note that touching the glass envelope by
ohe155
hand is likely to lead to premature failure. If
necessary, the envelope should be cleaned
using white spirit and a paper tissue. After
refitting, verify lamp operation and check
that the protective boot is correctly fitted
onto the lamp body before replacing the
wheelarch liner access panel.

Headlamp Alignment

Replacing the burner unit will not affect
alignment, but incorrectly adjusted
headlamps can cause poor lighting
performance or dazzle oncoming traffic.
If you suspect your headlamps are out
of alignment contact your Lotus dealer
as specialist equipment is required to
correctly aim the headlamps, it is also
necessary to remove access panels within
the front wheelarch liners to gain access
to the adjustment screws.
