INSTRUMENT PANEL

LH display
Central dials incorporating tell tale lamps

Speedometer

Displays road speed in mph
or km/h according to market.
The speed is also shown in
the central display screen.

Tachometer

Displays engine speed in
revolutions per minute.
Speedometer & Tachometer Needles
Each time the ignition is switched on the
both needles rotate to full scale then back
to zero.

Engine Speed

Maximum allowable engine speed is
graduated during engine warm up;
once normal running temperature has
been reached the maximum continuous

engine speed is increased to 6,600 rpm
(or 7,000 rpm in Sport mode for manual
transmission models). During maximum
acceleration through the lower gears, very
short bursts up to 6,600 rpm are allowed
(or 7,000 rpm in Sport or Race modes. Also
see page 74 for running in procedure.
NOTICE: The use of wide throttle openings
and/or high rpm before normal running
temperature has been reached should be
avoided. The engine management system
graduates the maximum engine speed for
a cold engine, in order to reduce possible
damage and wear. Do not run the engine
continuously at its maximum speed. The
engine is not protected from over speed-
ing caused by erroneous or premature
down changing, the consequences of
which could be engine failure not covered
by the New Vehicle Warranty.

Instrument Panel Central Display

To change the unit of speed, see 'Unit
Setting' on page 46.
Note: The polarising effect of the lenses
used in certain sunglass brands may
result in the driver information contained
within the left hand, right hand and central
display panels being difficult to view.
Displays the digital road
speed in the same units as
the speedometer face.
