INSTRUMENTS, SWITCHES & TELL TALE LAMPS
Seat Belt
As a reminder to fasten the seat belts, the
seat belt tell tale will flash red for about
six seconds following ignition switch on,
accompanied, if the driver's belt is not
fastened, by an intermittent audible tone.

If the driver's belt remains unfastened,

the lamp will illuminate continuously, or if
vehicle speed exceeds 15 mph (20 km/h)
the lamp will flash, accompanied by a
beeping tone for a period of two minutes,
unless the vehicle speed is decreased to
below 10 mph (15 km/h) before this time.
Battery Charging
The battery is not being charged if
illuminated at any time when the engine
is running. Stop the car as soon as
safely possible and turn off the engine
immediately as engine cooling may also
be affected and could cause the engine to
overheat very quickly.
WARNING
Do not, under any circumstances,
allow the battery to become completely
discharged by continuing to drive, as this
may result in the vehicle being stranded
in a dangerous position.

Washer Fluid Level
Illuminates to indicate a low fluid level in
the windscreen and headlamp powerwash
jet reservoir. If the lamp is constantly
illuminated, or illuminates after use, refill
the reservoir with a suitable fluid at the
first opportunity, also see page 88.
Transmission Malfunction Indicator
(Automatic vehicles only)
The tell tale will illuminate for about 3 sec-
onds following ignition switch on.
Warning Modes
Oil Temperature
A warning message will appear in the right
hand display screen. The tell tale will il-
luminate continuously accompanied by a 1
second audible chime if the temperature of
the transmission oil becomes too high and
the vehicle will default to a limited power
mode. Reduce vehicle road speed until the
lamp extinguishes.
Transmission Fault
A warning message will appear in the right
hand display screen, the tell tale will il-
luminate continuously accompanied by a 1
second audible chime if a fault is detected
within the transmission system. Reduce
vehicle road speed immediately and adopt
a moderate driving style.
Emissions Fault
If a fault is detected within a transmission
component which could affect the vehicle's
emissions, then the engine Malfunction
Indicator Lamp (MIL) will also illuminate
continuously in conjunction with the Trans-
mission Malfunction Indicator lamp.
See page 48 for further information regard-
ing the driving style that should be adopted
if the MIL lamp is illuminated or flashing.
Note: Even if the tell tale extinguishes, pro-
ceed with caution and seek dealer advice
without delay and avoid all unnecessary
journeys.
NOTICE: Continuing to drive with an il-
luminated Transmission Malfunction
Indicator lamp may cause damage to the
transmission.
