2.4 Obligations of the operating
company
The operating company owns or leases the product and
the peripherals. It is responsible that the intended use is
complied with at all times.
The operating company must:
Assign the different tasks to be performed on the
product to appropriate, qualified and authorized
personnel
Verifiably train the personnel in the authorizations and
tasks
Provide all materials and means necessary in order for
the personnel to complete the assigned tasks
Ensure that the product is operated only when in
perfect technical condition
Ensure that the product is protected from unau-
thorized use

2.5 General electrical information
In the following you will find general electrical information
on the installation and operation of the device.
In addition to the information provided
in the following, the "General electrical
information" in the "Interfaces of HEIDENHAIN
Encoders" HEIDENHAIN catalog applies to the
connection of the encoder.
2.5.1 Electrical safety and voltage supply
The integrated position measuring system and the motor
of the device must be treated and supplied as separate
electrical systems.
The encoder must only be supplied from PELV systems
(low voltage with protective separation from supply
circuits, see EN 50178). If the rated voltage of the motor
is less than 50 V, a PELV DC-link voltage is required.
For the insulation coordination, the integrated encoder
and the motor windings are to be considered independent
electrical systems. Air clearances and creepage distances
are intended for the following constraints according to
EN 61800-5-1:

Further requirements for electrical safety must
be defined and implemented in the overall
system depending on the application.
