ADJUST THE SERVICE BRAKES

Note: This vehicle is equipped with self-adjusting brakes. Other than the brake linkages, there is no manual
adjustment. A low brake pedal may be an indication that the auto-adjust mechanism is not functioning
properly. Refer to
mechanism.

ADJUST THE BRAKE LINKAGE

The treadle rod should be adjusted so that the FS-1 switch just opens whenever the treadle is released.
Before adjusting the treadle rod, inspect the automatic brake adjust mechanism for proper operation and be
certain the brakes are adjusted correctly.
The rear drive wheels may rotate during the
following tests.
1. Place the forward-reverse switch in the
center "OFF" position.
2. Place blocks under the front wheel to
prevent vehicle movement.
Always use a lifting strap, hoist, and jack
stands, of adequate capacity to lift and
support the vehicle. Failure to use lifting
and support devices of rated load capacity
may result in severe bodily injury.
3. Raise the rear wheels and support with jack stands.
4. Remove the floorboard.
5. Loosen both jam nuts on the treadle rod.

when the treadle is released.
