DIFFERENTIAL CASE

Disassemble

1. Remove the transmission from the vehicle. Refer to Transmission-Remove section for information on
removing the transmission.
2. Thoroughly clean the transmission assembly before disassembly.
3. Remove the left and right axles from the transmission assembly. Refer to Rear Axle section for information
on removing the axles.
4. Suspend the differential case over a drain pan that can hold a minimum of 2-quarts of oil.
5. Remove the differential case cover being careful not to bend
or damage the case cover flange or the sealing surface of the
differential case.
6. Remove the differential bearing caps and remove the differential
assembly from the housing.
Note: The bearing caps are marked for identification. When the
transmission is reassembled they must be installed in their
original position.
7. Remove both bearings from the differential case.
8. Remove the final drive gear from the differential housing.
