ADJUST THE PARKING BRAKE
There are two adjustments for the parking brake. The primary adjustment is on the park brake handle itself. The
secondary adjustment is the park brake cable under the treadle. The park brake cable does not require routine
adjusments. It should only be adjusted if any part of the brake linkages are replaced.
Primary Adjustment (handle)
6. Release the park brake.
7. Rotate the knob on the end of the park brake handle to adjust the brake.

Clockwise to tighten
•
Counter clockwise to loosen.
7. Set the park brake.
8. Reconnect the main positive and negative cables at the batteries.
9. Remove the blocks from behind the wheels.
10. Release the park brake and test drive the vehicle.
Secondary Adjustment (cable)
6. Release the park brake.
7. Remove the treadle cover.
8. Loosen the park brake cable clevis jam nut.
9. Remove the clevis pin.
10. Fully depress the treadle and clamp or tie it in the fully depressed
position.
11. Pull the cable out and adjust the clevis so that the clevis pin can be
inserted with the cable pulled out as far as possible.
Note:
There should be no tension on the clevis pin.
12. Insert a new cotter pin and tighten the jam nut.
13. Install the treadle cover.
14. Perform the Primary Adjustment Procedure.
Maintenance, Service, and Repair
1. Make sure the key-switch is in the "OFF" position, then remove
the key.
2. Place the forward-reverse switch in the center "OFF" position.
3. Set the park brake.
4. Place blocks under the front wheels to prevent vehicle movement.
5. Disconnect the main positive and negative cables at the batteries.
