Maintenance

7.1
Maintenance safety instructions
Hazard due to toxic and harmful fumes, gases and substances (e. g. bacteria, viruses). If the
backwater valve is located in an inspection chamber, any necessary work must always be carried
out by skilled personnel 3.2.2).
Drowning hazard in the system chamber. In the event of a flood, a system chamber can
fill with water within a very short time. If there is a risk of penetrating water, the inspection
chamber must not be entered until there is no danger involved.
Following any maintenance work on the backwater valve, always carry out a functional
check (see 5.3).
7.2
Maintenance intervals
– A monthly visual inspection of the backwater valve for leaks and to check the movement
of the emergency closure lever is recommended.
– Maintenance should be carried out twice a year by technical experts.
– Control unit: battery replacement approx. every 24 months
7.3
Maintenance preparation
• Make sure that the inlet to the backwater valve is not used during maintenance work.
