8.1 Inspection

The Ecolift backwater valve should be in-
spected on a monthly basis by the owner
or a representative of the owner. The follo-
wing should be included in this inspection:
1) Press the pump test button on the con-
trol unit
2) Press the backwater flap test button on
the control unit
3) Manually close and open the
emergency backwater flap lever

8.2 Maintenance

Before any maintenance is done on the
Ecolift, the unit should be completely dis-
connected from all power sources! Please
follow all safety instructions! All inspec-
tion and maintenance work should be
handled by a licensed authorized trades-
man. Repairs of the system may only be
handled by the manufacturer.
1. In the case that a KESSEL product is de-
fective, KESSEL has the option of repai-
ring or replacing the product. If the pro-
duct remains defective after the second
attempt to repair or replace the product or
it is economically unfeasible to repair or
replace the product, the customer has the
right to cancel the order / contract or re-
duce payment accordingly. KESSEL
must be notified immediately in writing of
defects in a product. In the case that the
defect is not visible or difficult to detect,
KESSEL must be notified immediately in
writing of the defect as soon as it is di-
scovered. If the product is repaired or re-
placed, the newly repaired or replaced
product shall receive a new warranty
identical to that which the original (defec-
tive) product was granted. The term de-

8.3 Electrical control unit instructions

- The two 9 volt batteries in the control unit
should be checked on a yearly basis and
replaced if necessary. Please dispose of
old batteries properly. Only use proper Du-
racell batteries specified in this manual.
- Repairs of the system may only be hand-
led by the manufacturer.

8.4 Malfunctions

In the case that problems or malfunctions
with the Ecolift occur which cannot be cor-
rected, please contact KESSEL or an aut-
horized KESSEL dealer in your area. KES-
SEL contacts can be found on the internet
at www.kessel.de.

9. Warranty

a period of 24 month. This warranty pe-
riod begins on the day the product is ship-
ped form KESSEL to its customer. The
warranty only applies to newly manufac-

In addition to the standard warranty, KES-
SEL offers an additional 20 year warranty
on the polymer bodies of class I / II fuel
separators, grease separators, inspec-
tion chambers, wastewater treatment sy-
stems and rainwater storage tanks. This
additional warranty applies to the water-
tightness, usability and structural sound-
ness of the product.
