• Function #1, green LED flashes 1x short: Drive function
In this settings menu the speed controller can be switched between "forwards/brake" and "forwards/brake/reverse"
(reverse driving can be switched off).
• Function #2, green LED flashes 2x short: Simulation of the motor brake function of a conventional electrical
motor
A conventional electric motor (with brushes/carbon) already develops a certain degree of motor-braking strength
due to the magnets it contains – this is much weaker in brushless motors.
This braking power can be simulated with this function. If you take back the throttle at the transmitter or move back
the throttle/brake lever into the neutral position, the vehicle will slow down automatically. The effect is thus exactly
like that of the motor-braking function in a "real" car when you release the accelerator without stepping on the brake
pedal. The strength of the braking effect can be adjusted (the higher the value set the greater the effect of the motor
brake function).
Settable values are 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 40%.
• Function #3, green LED flashes 3x short: Undervoltage protection
If LiPo rechargeable batteries are used, then you must ensure that the low-voltage protection is activated
(e.g. 3.0V per cell).
If the low-voltage protection is activated, the speed controller unit measures the rechargeable battery voltage
immediately after it is switched on. At a voltage lower than 9.0V, the unit assumes that a 2-cell LiPo rechargeable
battery is in place, at voltages between 9.0 and 12V it assumes that a 3-cell LiPo rechargeable battery is in place.
If the rechargeable battery voltage is lower than the set value (e.g. 3.0V per cell, power cut-out at 6.0V when 2-cell
LiPo rechargeable battery is used), the motor is shut off in order to protect the battery.
If NiMH batteries are used, the voltage for switching off depends on the voltage of the NiMH battery. For a NiMH
battery voltage below 9.0V, the switch-off voltage of a 2-cell LiPo rechargeable battery is used (e.g. 2x 2.6V = 5.2V).
For a NiMH battery voltage over 9.0V, the switch-off voltage of a 3-cell LiPo rechargeable battery is used (e.g.
3x 2.6V = 7.8V). Example: NiMH battery with 6 cells and approx 8.0V (rechargeable battery fully charged), undervoltage
protection for LiPo programmed to 2.6V -> Switch-off at 5.2V for this NiMH battery.
Attention! Caution!
Generally, the speed controller may also be operated with 3-cell LiPo batteries or up to 9-cell NiMH driving
batteries.
This delivered vehicle and the including motor, however, are exclusively suitable for use with
NiMH rechargeable batteries with 6 cells (nominal voltage 7.2V) or LiPo rechargeable batteries
with 2 cells (nominal voltage 7.4V).
When using a drive battery with more cells, there is a danger of fire from overheating of the speed
controller. Apart from this, the vehicle's drive will be overloaded and damaged by this (e.g. diffe-
rential). Loss of guarantee/warranty!
Therefore, never use any NiMH driving batteries with more than 6 cells or LiPo driving batteries
with more than 2 cells!
