5) INFORMATION: Do not pull the shoulder belt too tight so as to avoid constriction. A
finger should fit easily between the strap and the shoulder.
6) Adjust the waist strap to the patient-specific length to provide a tight fit. The straps must not
be twisted.
7) Perform a fitting.
Optional: Apply the torso braces
1) Loosen the strap guide loops (3 and 4) of the shoulder belt (item 11) from the back plate
(item 1).
2) Attach the torso braces (item 6) to the back plate, following the numbered sequence (3, 4)
(see fig. 3).
3) Stick the pads (item 7) onto the torso braces and cold shape them to the body by hand.
4) Hook the strap guide loops (3 and 4) of the shoulder belt into the eyelets of the torso braces
(see fig. 10).
After the fitting
1) After final adjustment of the orthosis fit and positioning, replace the hook-and-loop pads
(item 2) with the clip rivets (item 8) (see fig. 11).
2) Using the punch pliers, pierce holes in the straps at the marked points.
3) Rivet the shoulder belt and waist strap by hand. Use the large clip rivets for the shoulder belt
(1 to 4) and waist strap (7 and 8) and the small clip rivets for the numbers (5 and 6) of the
waist strap.
4) Practice the correct application and removal of the orthosis with the patient and explain the
proper fit of the orthosis.
5) If the back plate (item 1) slips upwards while the orthosis is being worn, the patient should
pull it back down to its proper place.
6) Remove the orthosis for extended sitting or lying down.
