An Overview of the PA300-CN
The PA300-CN is a full-featured, programmable electronic siren and light control system. State-of-the-art
microprocessor technology is used to create a system with a small, compact control pad and a siren amplifier
that can be installed in the trunk, under the dashboard, or under the seat of any vehicle with a 12 V negative
ground system. Models 690200 and 690201 both feature light and siren control, while only the Model
690200 includes an auxiliary relay module.
The PA300-CN provides the automatic, simultaneous light and siren activation required by some
jurisdictions. The siren amplifier has three easily accessible Convergence Network serial ports that connect

the control pad and any serially-controlled Federal Signal product. A variety of system features can be
programmed with the Convergence Network Configuration Software from a computer via a crossover
Ethernet cable that connects the control pad. System features include flash patterns, siren tones, and
momentary, push-on/push-off, or timed relay operation. (Relays are only available in the Model 690200.)
Programming does not require disassembling or removing any hardware from the vehicle.

Siren, PA, and Speakers

The PA300-CN amplifier produces wail, yelp, and priority siren tones, as well as an air horn sound. The
horn-ring transfer feature enables the driver to control siren tones by pressing the horn button. Public address
is available with the Federal Signal microphone, which is included with the system. Radio rebroadcast is also
available. The PA300-CN can drive one 11-ohm impedance speaker or two 11-ohm impedance, low power
(58 W) or high power (100 W), speakers. Two speakers must be connected in parallel and in phase.
Lightbars and SignalMaster Control

Compatible lightbars include full featured, serially-controlled Federal Signal Argent S2, Legend , and

Raydian S2 as well as the ILS Series of interior-mounted lightbars. In addition, flash rates and patterns,

lightbar dimming, and other options can be programmed with the Convergence Network Configuration
Software.

Programmable Auxiliary Relays (Model 690200 Only)

Four solid-state auxiliary relays are available for non-serially controlled lightbars, perimeter lights, and
accessories. Two 10 A relays, a 15 A relay, and a 20 A relay correspond to each individually fused auxiliary
output. The four relays source +12 Vdc. The total current should not exceed 35 A.
