Chapter 6
RC Systems recommends performing visual inspections at regular intervals to ensure proper functionality
of the ViewSmart 1600+. Visual inspection of enclosure and conduit entries should be performed to check
for cleanliness and physical integrity. Cleaning the ViewSmart 1600+ is recommended when necessary,
but be aware that some cleaning compounds may be detected by an operational gas detector depending
on the sensor type. So, proper precautions should be taken.
RC Systems recommends calibrations:
 Immediately prior to placing a gas detector in service
 Any time a new sensor is installed
 Every six months for routine calibrations (more often if sensor is known to have been exposed
to gas for extended periods of time)
 Periodic bump tests are recommended if detector has potentially been exposed to
incompatible gases to ensure correct operation
Chapter 7
A System Diagnostic Mode may be entered during normal operation from the Main menu. The entry
menu, shown below, offers useful routines for testing front panel LED's, relays, serial ports and analog
I/O. It is exited manually by pressing Next and automatically if no keys are pressed for 5 minutes. The unit
will reboot when diagnostics is exited. It is very important to understand that
CHANNEL INPUT DATA IS NOT PROCESSED WHILE IN DIAGNOSTICS MODE. It is possible to miss
important input values while utilizing this mode and appropriate safeguards should be in place.

However, the Diagnostics Mode can prove invaluable when testing I/O since relays and analog outputs
may be stimulated without driving inputs to precise levels.

7.1 Standard Relays

Standard Relays allows manual actuation of the Standard Relays, Horn Relay and Fault Relay while in the
Diagnostic mode. Highlight the relay to be actuated and press Edit. LEDs on the Main I/O board confirm
relay actuation.
