Setpoint
Setpoint is the value where the alarm trips. It is entered in engineering units. For example, if a channel
monitors 0-50 ppmH2S, and the alarm must trip at 10 ppm, the correct Setpoint is 10.00.
If the desired setpoint is unknown, R.C. Systems recommends setting Alarm 1 to 20% of full scale, Alarm
2 to 40% of full scale and Alarm 3 to 60% of full scale.
4.5.1.1.2
Latching
Latching determines either manual or automatic alarm reset operation. When set to Yes, the channel
requires a manual Alarm Reset to unlatch the alarm even though an alarm condition no longer exists, and
alarm group's common relay, front panel LED, and optional discrete relay to latch. When set to No, the all
alarm outputs for this channel are allowed to automatically reset as soon as the alarm condition clears.
4.5.1.1.3
Trip On
Trip On should be set to High for increasing alarms and Low for decreasing alarms to determine if the
alarm activates upon exceeding or falling below the setpoint.
4.5.1.1.4
On and Off Delays
The On Delay and Off Delay entries allow time delays affecting how long the setpoint must be surpassed
before an alarm event transition occurs. On delays are limited to 10 seconds while Off delays may be as
long as 120 minutes.
On Delays are useful in many applications to prevent nuisance alarms and unwanted cycling into and out
of alarm conditions.
Off Delays are useful for allowing alarm events to continue even after the alarm has cleared. An example
of this is when the Alarm state is reached and a relay is activated that energizes a ventilation fan. The Off
Delay will allow the ventilation fan to continue to run up to two hours after the alarm condition has
cleared.
