Troubleshooting a Data Link Layer problem

Clear commands

• Use the clear bridge mac command to clear all the non-static MAC entries learned
by bridge.
• Use the clear spanning-tree command to clear MSTP states.
• Use the clear gvrp state-machine [port-name] to clear the current state of
GVRP.

Debug commands

Most subsystems in the Avaya Secure Router 2330/4134 support debug tracing. This feature
can be turned on using the following commands:
• debug all
• debug dot1x <all | event | packet | timer>
• debug gvrp <all | cli | event | packet | timer>
• debug igmp <all | decode | encode | event | fsm | tib>
• debug igmp-snooping <all | event | packet | timer>
• debug lacp <all | event | packet | timer>
• debug spanning-tree <all | cli | event | packet | timer>
Use the no form of these commands to disable debugging.

Troubleshooting MSTP

The main function of MSTP is to prevent loops that redundant links create in network. So the
failure in MSTP causes loops in the network.
