• Verify GVRP Statistics using the show gvrp statistics command.
As shown above interface ethernet5/1 is both receiving and transmitting JoinIn packet.
However, interface ethernet5/2 is only receiving JoinIn packets but not transmitting
(interface is set to Alternate Discarding by MSTP). If an interface is in Forwarding state
and still is not transmitting and receiving JoinnIn messages, disable GVRP and re-enable
GVRP both globally and on the interface. Execute this on both side of the link.
/configure# gvrp /configure/gvrp# no gvrp-enable /configure/
interface/ethernet (5/1)# gvrp /configure/interface/ethernet
(5/1)/gvrp# no gvrp-enable /configure/interface/ethernet (5/1)/
gvrp# gvrp-enable /configure/interface/ethernet (5/1)/gvrp#
exit /configure/interface/ethernet (5/1)# exit /configure# gvrp /
configure/gvrp# gvrp-enable
If the problem persists, restart the interface by executing "shutdown" and "no shutdown"
on both end of the link:
/configure# interface ethernet5/1 /configure/interface/
ethernet5/1# shutdown /configure/interface/ethernet5/1# no
shutdown
• Verify GVRP State Machine using the show gvrp state-machine command.
