Troubleshooting Quality of Service
10. Unable to map a policy-map to an interface
298
Troubleshooting
Symptom: User may not be able map a policy-map to an interface with service-
policy command.
Description: In Module QoS, policy-map needs to be mapped to an ingress interface
before it becomes operational. User may sometimes get an error while mapping a
policy-map to an interface.
Troubleshooting tips: Some of the reasons that could result in the above behavior
are described below:
• Another policy-map is already attached. At-most one policy-map can be
attached to an interface. If a service policy already exists for an interface,
remove the previous policy-map and attach the new policy-map to the
interface. To verify if a service-policy exists for a policy-map, use the following
command: show qos module service-policy
• Auto qos is already enabled on the interface. If auto qos is already enabled on
the interface, the default auto-qos policy-map will be servicing the interface.
To attach the new policy-map, disable auto-qos on the interface and then
attach the new policy-map to the interface. To verify if a service-policy exists
