Alarm Output:
A switch output with the alarm output function is energized in normal operation. If the device detects
a fault (see section 6), the switch output is de-energised.

Pulse Repeater:
With pulse repeater, input pulses are switched 1 : 1 to the switch output. Then pulses can be
evaluated in the process control system/controller. With this function, the HiD2891 thus acts only
as a separator between the intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe current.
The maximum switching frequency for the transistor output is 5 kHz, for the relays < 2 Hz. Thus the
relay is only suitable as a pulse repeater output in exceptional cases.
