Chapter 1: Introduction/Installation

1.1

About this Manual

This manual is designed for installers of the International Electronics prox.pad Standalone Proximity Reader/Keypad Access Control
System. The device has three operating modes, Stand-Alone (see Chapter 2), Wiegand Front End (see Chapter 3), and Secured Series
Front End (see Chapter 4). All wiring and programming instructions for a particular mode are grouped in a separate chapter along with
related illustrations.
Installation instructions are common to all three modes, and are provided in this chapter.

Safety Warnings and Cautions

This system must be installed in accordance with the National Electrical code (NFPA70), local codes, and the authorities having
jurisdiction.
When handling the main printed circuit board, to guard against possible static discharges, touch a grounded object before touching the
prox.pad unit. Static shock can render the product unusable.
