Installation and User's Guide
This Installation and User's Guide contains instructions for setting up your HUAWEI Tecal
RH5485 server, installing optional devices, and for starting and configuring the server. For
diagnostic and troubleshooting information and instructions for removing and installing server
components, see the Problem Determination and Service Guide that is on the HUAWEI
Documentation CD.
The HUAWEI Tecal RH5485 server is a 4U1-high, high-performance server. It can be
upgraded to a symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) server through a microprocessor upgrade. It
is ideally suited for networking environments that require superior microprocessor
performance, efficient memory management, flexibility, and large amounts of reliable data
storage.
Performance, ease of use, reliability, and expansion capabilities were key considerations in the
design of the server. These design features make it possible for you to customize the system
hardware to meet your needs today and provide flexible expansion capabilities for the future.

1.1 The HUAWEI Documentation CD

The HUAWEI Documentation CD contains documentation for your server in Portable
Document Format (PDF) and includes the HUAWEI Documentation Browser to help you find
information quickly.

The HUAWEI Documentation CD requires the following minimum hardware and software:

Use the Documentation Browser to browse the contents of the CD, read brief descriptions of
the documents, and view documents, using Adobe Acrobat Reader or xpdf. The
Documentation Browser automatically detects the regional settings in your server and
