PRE-WARMING THE CUPS

WARNING:
Only use heat-resistant cups and glasses. Other materials could crack,
burst, or melt. This way, splinters or other particles could get into your coffee, causing
severe injuries.
4. As soon as the appliance is switched on, the warming tray on top of the housing is
activated. Place your cups onto the warming tray for pre-heating. A warm cup will help
maintaining the coffee's optimal temperature.

PREPARING THE COFFEE POWDER

IMPORTANT:
If you wish to utilize ready-to-use espresso pads, make sure to choose the
dedicated pad filter basket labelled with „pod" at the bottom. Do not use usual coffee
pads, as these are too large for fitting into the pad filter basket. When using espresso
pads, simply place only one single espresso pad into the pad filter basket, ensuring that
the rim of the filter basket is not covered by the paper filter of the espresso pad.
1. First, insert the desired filter basket into the portafilter. The filter basket is fixed within
the portafilter via a spring. Press the filter basket into the portafilter until it settles. The
rim of the filter basket must lie flat against the rim of the portafilter.
If you wish to use coffee powder, proceed as described below.

DOSING AND TAMPING THE COFFEE POWDER

TIP:
When using whole bean coffee, ground directly before extracting. In this case, it is
best to use the single wall filter basket. If using pre-ground coffee, you should use the dual
wall filter basket. However, for optimal flavour when using a 1 CUP filter, you should
extract approx. 30ml. When using a 2 CUP filter, you should extract approx. 60ml. If
you wish to brew somewhat more coffee (e.g. filling a coffee mug) you should use the
dual wall filter basket. In this case, fill the appropriate amount of water into the mug via
the hot water function (see: >Hot Water<). Then add the coffee.
2. Fill the filter basket with ground coffee, level the surface. When using the 1 CUP
filter basket, fill in 1 level measuring spoon full of coffee powder. For the 2 CUP fil-
ter basket, you may need twice as much. The filter mesh is adjusted to develop the
correct pressure for the extraction when filled with the required amount. Thus, it is
essential to use the correct amount (see: >Tips for Best Results<).
3. Using the provided tamper, tamp down the coffee powder firmly, applying approx.
15-20kg of pressure. It's important to apply consistent pressure every time.
