3. Wipe the outer housing, drip tray, and storage tray with a soft damp cloth and dry
thoroughly.
Conditioning and Assembling the Water Filter
4. Take out the water filter from the water tank.
5. Disassemble the filter holder by pressing both flaps on the filter base simultaneously
while pulling the top and base of the filter holder apart. Soak the white filter pack in
a cup of water for 5 minutes. Then rinse the filter pack under cold running water.
6. Rinse the stainless steel mesh in the filter base with cold water. Lay the filter pack into
the filter top and re-assemble top and base of the filter holder.
7. To install the water filter, push it down into the water tank bottom to lock it into place
in the centre of the water tank. Ensure that the water filter is securely fitted inside the
tank.
8. Slide the water tank into position and push it down slightly. The outer walls and lid
of the water tank must be in straight line with the outer walls of the housing.
Flushing the Espresso Machine
9. Place the appliance onto a sufficient surface. Fill the water tank with up to 1.8 litres
of clear tap water. Then plug in the power plug.
10. Press the POWER button to switch on the appliance. A pumping sound will be heard
and the POWER button will be flashing. As soon as the machine reaches operating
temperature, it will go to standby mode and the POWER button will be illuminated
continuously.
11. It is recommended to perform several flushing cycles, without ground coffee, to ensu-
re the machine has been conditioned. For this, with the machine in standby mode,
run the following 2 steps.
WARNING:
When activating the coffee function or steam/hot water function, hot
water and steam are produced, escaping from the group head and/or steam wand.
Always keep your hands and arms in appropriate distance to avoid scalds.
12. Assemble the portafilter without coffee powder to the group head (see: >Making
Coffee<) and ensure that the steam wand is positioned with the tip facing to the drip
tray.
13. Turn the control dial to the left coffee position for 30 seconds. Then turn the control
dial to the right steam position to activate steam for 10 seconds. Repeat this cycle
several times.
