• DO NOT pour or spill any liquids on or under the appliance or power
cord. Do not immerse the appliance, power cord, or power plug in water
or other liquids. When liquids overflowed or are spilled on the housing
or power cord, do not touch the appliance but immediately unplug the
appliance. Thereafter, dry the appliance and let it dry naturally for at
least 1 day. Always immediately unplug the appliance, if the appliance
is likely to be leaking (liquid accumulates under the appliance).
• Always completely unwind the power cord before use.
• Power cords may never be knotted, twisted, pulled, strained or squee-
zed. Do not let the plug or power cord hang over the edge of the table
or counter. Ensure that no one will pull the appliance by the power cord.
Take care not to entangle in the power cord. Always grasp the plug to
disconnect the power cord.
• If the power cord is likely to be damaged, it must be replaced by an
authorized person to avoid hazards. Do not attempt to repair the power
cord!
HIGH TEMPERATURES—RISK OF BURNS
Your new »Design Espresso Maschine Advanced S« is designed for brewing
coffee. Thus, some parts will get very hot during operation and hot steam
and water escape.
• Before removing any parts (e.g.: portafilter, filter basket, steam wand tip)
always ensure that the parts cooled down to room temperature. Do not
touch hot parts.
• Only use the dedicated handles for moving hot parts (e.g. group head,
portafilter, steam wand) during operation and shortly thereafter to avoid
scalds. Even after operation these parts may be still hot.
• Hot water and hot steam can escape from the group head, portafilter,
and steam wand. Do not hold your hands and arms or any delicate
objects under or near these parts, while the appliance is still hot. Always
ensure that the steam wand points to the drip tray, when not in use.
• Before moving or cleaning the appliance, always wait until the appli-
ance cooled down completely, then empty the water tank and drip tray.
