f. Reboot the system.

13. Set the BACKPLANEMODE BIOS parameter by entering the following command:
v arcconf setbiosparams 1 backplanemode 1

Starting the 8348-21C system

You can use the power button to start the IBM Power System S812LC (8348-21C) system.
About this task
Attention: For safety, airflow purposes and thermal performance, the service access cover must be
installed and fully seated before you power on the system.
Procedure
1. Open the front rack door, if necessary.
2. Before you press the power button, ensure that the power supplies are connected to the system unit
and verify the following items:
v All system power cables are connected to a power source.
v The power-on LED, as shown in Figure 42, is flashing. A flashing light indicates standby power to
the unit.
3. Press the power button (A) shown in Figure 42. The power-on light stops flashing and remains on,
indicating that the system power is turned on. The system cooling fans operate at a high speed, and
after approximately 30 seconds, return to operating speed.
