Connectingthe interfacecable
Comect the printerto your computerusing a standardCentronicsparallel
interfacecable.On a PS/2or PC/AT-typecomputer,thismeansthatyouuse
the25-pinD-typecomectorat thecomputerend,andtheAmphenol-type 36-
pinconnectorattheprinterend.Theconjuration of theprinter'scomector
is given in Chapter 11 shouldyou need a cable for connectingto another
computer.
Ifyouneedto connecttoaserialport,usetheoptionalSerialRS-232interface
cartridge,IS-8XL.
Followthe proceduresbelowto connectthe interfacecable:
1. Turn off the powerswitchboth the printerand the computer.
2. Connectthe interfacecableto the printeras shownin Figure2-5.
Make sure that you pressthe plug fullyinto the interfacecomcctor.
