DOWNLOADCHARACTERS
Withthisprinteryoucancmatenewcharactersandsymbols,downloadtheir
dot
data,andhavethemprintedin placeof selectedcharactersin the regular
characterset.Charactersthatcanbegeneratedinthiswayrangefromsimple
but useful symbolslike the check mark through to complex Chinese or
Japanesecharacters.
Regularcharactemam permanentlystoredin the printer'sROM, but char-
actersyou designare downloadedand stoti in RAM for use.
Beforeyoustartto defineyourowncharacters,youmustsettheEDSswitch
A-2 to "RAM DOWNLOAD".
Otherwise,the RAM is used to store the input buffer, and the download
commandsare ignored.
DEFININGYOUR OWNCHARACTERS WITH
STANDARDMODE
Designingand printingyour own charactemhas two requirements:first,
designingthe shapeof thecharacter,calculatingthe datanecessaryto make
the shape, and sendingthat data to the printer, and secondly,sendingthe
commandtoprintthedownloaded characters insteadoftheregularcharacters.
