Assigninga valueof characterspace
Besidesbeing ableto specifythe actualwidthof the character,this printer
allowsyou to specifythe positionin the standardgrid wherethe character
will print. You must specifythe dot columnin whichthe printedcharacter
starts and the dot columnin whichthe characterends. Why, you may ask,
wouldyouwantto definea characterthiswayinsteadof merelydefting the
overallwidthof the character?Becausethisprinter'sproportional c haracter
definitions can also be used to print normal width characters, and by
centeringeventhenarrowcharactem inthecompletegridtheywilllookgood
even you am not printingthemproportional.
The threebytesare usedto specifythe widthof the characterand the space
to be allowedon eithersideof it.Theleftspace(indotcolumns)is specified
by mOandthe rightspaceis specifiedbym2.The secondbyte(ml) specifies
thewidthof thecharacterindots.Byvaryingthewidthofthecharacteritself
andthespacesaroundit,youcanactuallycmateproportion~ w idthcharacters.
