3.3 REPLACING INK CASSETTES

(1) Replacement time
 The operation panel displays "[****] InkNearEnd" the alarm buzzer sounds continuously.

This means there is a small amount of ink remaining in the ink cassette. To stop the buzzer
press [ENTER]. Prepare the ink cassettes for replacement.
 The operation panel displays "[****] InkEnd".

This means there is no ink remaining in the ink cassette. The buzzer will sound continuously.
To stop it press the [ENTER] key. Immediately replace the ink cassettes with new ones.
Notes

[****] in the messages of the ink cassette replacement indicates the colour that is almost empty or runs
out, using the following characters.
o K: black
o C: Cyan
o M: Magenta
o Y: yellow

Do not insert or remove the ink cassette except at the time of replacement. Inserting or removing the
ink cassette mixes air into the ink tube, and failures such as nozzle detachment may occur.
If the operation panel displays "InkEnd", you cannot print until you insert the new ink cassette.

If there is no cassette for replacement at hand, leave the empty ink cassette in the printer. Leaving the
printer without an ink cassette may result in a clogging head.
(2) Replacement steps
Notes

Do not shake ink cassettes. Doing so may cause ink leakage.

Do not disassemble the ink cassette. A disassembled ink cassette cannot be used.

When you move the ink cassette from a cold place to a warm place, keep the ink cassette unused for
three hours or more in the printing environment.

Do not refill the ink cassettes.
Doing so may result in incorrect printing.

Insert or remove the ink cassette at the time of replacement only.
Inserting or removing ink cassettes except at the time of replacement may result in incorrect printing.
To replace ink cassettes, follow the steps below


Used ink cassettes should be put in a vinyl bag etc, and disposed in compliance with local ordinance
and instructions of local authorities.
Verify that the printer has been switched ON.
Step 1 :
Remove the empty ink cassette(s) from the ink cassette slot (s)
Step 2 :
Unpack the new ink cassette(s).
Step 3 :
Insert the new ink cassette(s)
Step 4 :
Verify that the printer returns to the Normal mode
Step 5 :
Notes

If replacing the ink cassette during printing, printing resumes.
