Performance Verification Tests

The performance verification tests are designed to provide the highest level of confidence that the module being
tested conforms to published, factory-set specifications. The tests are designed to test a module operating within
the temperature range defined by the module specifications. If the module is unable to pass any of the performance
tests, you may need to exchange the defective module for a new one – see

10 MHz Lock Range Test
Test Method
This test checks the ability of the M9302A to lock on to an external 10 MHz reference signal when the reference
signal frequency is slightly off from 10 MHz. This test is a functional test. A signal at a frequency just beyond the
M9302A lock range is applied and the 10 MHz lock status is checked.
Limitations and Considerations
Measurement Frequencies
The signal frequency at which the 10 MHz lock status is checked is equal to the lock range of the M9302A plus an
addition offset based on the frequency accuracy of the signal source internal frequency reference. It is assumed
that an E8257D is the signal source and that the calibration interval is 3 years. The E8257D frequency accuracy is
no worse than 0.1 ppm. The lock range specification is 3 ppm. Therefore, the frequencies applied when checking
the M9302A lock range are 3.1 ppm or 10 MHz ± 31 Hz.
