Non-recordable signals This system cannot record and play digital signals other than audio signals. Other data than audio signals, such as the CD-ROM signal, cannot be played and recorded with this system.     Controls and indicators Main unit & ¡ ™ Standby mode While the standby indicator of the unit is lit, a small amount of current is flowing into the unit’s internal circuitry to back up the memory. This condition is referred to as the standby mode of the unit. While the unit is in the standby mode, it can be turned ON from the remote control unit.

    Clock adjustment This unit incorporates a clock function. Be sure to ad- just the correct time before using the timer function. If there is a power failure or the power cord is unplugged then plugged in again while the power is set to off (STANDBY mode) after a timer is activated, the STANDBY/TIMER indicator blinks in green.

    Using R.D.S. (Radio Data System) RDS is a system that transmits useful information (in the form of digital data) for FM broadcasts along with the broadcast signal. Tuners and receivers designed for RDS reception can extract the information from the broadcast signal for use with various functions, such as automatic display of the station name.

    Searching for a desired program type By specifying the type of program (genre) you want to listen to, the tuner automatically searches for a station which is currently broadcasting a program of the specified type. Under certain receiving conditions, it may take more than 1 minute to complete the search.

Once a recorded CD-R/RW is finalized, the CD-R can be played on other CD players* and the CD-RW can be played on CD-RW compatible components. Note that the CD-RW cannot be played back on ordinary CD players. * ...

  • Page 71: Unfinalizing A Cd-Rw (Unfinalize)

    Unfinalizing a CD-RW (UNFINALIZE) Unfinalization returns a finalized CD-RW to the status before finalization so that additional recording or rewriting is possible. Unfinalization cannot be applied to the CD-R discs. If a disc containing the recording of text data (disc and track titles, etc.) recorded with another CD recorder or PC is unfinalized on this system, the text data will be erased from the disc and can never be restored again.

  • Page 72: Erasure Of Cd-Rw Recording

    Erasure of CD-RW recording Recording in a recordable (i.e. non-finalized or unfinalized) CD-RW can be erased as described below. There are two methods of erasure. ÷ Erasing only the last recorded track in a CD-RW ÷ Erasing all tracks in a CD-RW Once erased, the tracks and data cannot be restored to the condition before erasure.

    Listening to an AUX input source A cassette deck, MD recorder or a similar component can be connected to the system as the auxiliary input source. Connect the component as described in “Connection of Other Accessories”#. Listening to Analog equipment 1 Press the AUX/D-AUX key repeatedly until "AUX".

    Timer operation The timer makes it possible to play a CD(CD-R/RW) or TAPE, receive radio or record CD or radio automati- cally in the specified time zone. The O.T.T. timer works only once when it is activated, the SLEEP timer switches power off (Standby mode) automatically even after you fall asleep, and the PROG.

    Program timer playback (AI timer playback) and timer recording Two timer programs (PROG.1, PROG.2) are available. Both of them are 24-hour timer programs which can be executed every day. Each of timer reservation programs PROG.1 and PROG.2 can store the time zone and contents of timer operation, which can be executed or deactivated as required.
