8.7 Commissioning (offline)
Select fieldbus address
The CFU automatically attempts to assign fieldbus addresses to the connected field devices.
Note
Fieldbus addresses 2 and 3
Fieldbus addresses 2 and 3 are used internally.
● If you connect field devices to the CFU using these addresses, automatic addressing of
the field devices will not be possible.
● To prevent malfunctions of the CFU PA, avoid connecting field devices with these
addresses to the CFU.
Note
Field devices with hardware-coded address
For field devices with hardware-coded address setting, automatic assignment of a fieldbus
address is not possible. Therefore, try to set the fieldbus devices such that the field device
receives the address via the software.
If this is not possible, set the fieldbus address of the field device to the address suitable for the
fieldbus connection before connecting it to the CFU. You can find information on the fieldbus
addresses of the CFU PA in section "PROFIBUS addresses of the PROFIBUS PA field devices
on the CFU PA (FBn) (Page 151)".
Recommendation:
● If possible, also select setting the address via the software for field devices with hardware-
coded address setting.
● If you have chosen to have the address set via the software, the CFU PA automatically
adopts the address assignment on the field device.
Procedure (offline configuration)

Recommendation: Detecting field devices online with the CFU commissioning wizard
If an online connection to the CFU PA is available, you can import and set the data of the field
devices using the commissioning wizard of SIMATIC PDM. The transfer to the configuration
can be performed later.
You can find information on this in section "Simplified commissioning of connected field
devices (Page 85)".
1. Open HW Config.
2. Select the CFU.
3. If the hardware catalog is not visible, select the menu command View > Catalog.
The hardware catalog is opened.
4. Double-click "PROFIBUS PA" in the library.
Search for the required field device in the catalog.
