Installing the cables
The basic procedure applies to all cables (power supply, FB<n> and DIQ<n>), bus cables for PROFI‐
NET IO and bus cables for PROFIBUS PA)

If you are using the CFU in the enclosure, you must observe
the following section: "Compact Field Unit in the enclosure
for use in a hazardous area (Page 109)".
Mount the enclosure.
Install the mounting rail (see the section "Installing the mount‐
ing rail (Page 30)").
Latch the CFU onto the mounting rail from below.

Press the CFU upward until the supports latch into the
mounting rail.
Tighten the fixing screws at both sides of the CFU.
Loosen the screw caps of the cable glands for the positions
at which cables are to be routed through the enclosure.
Check the seals for damage and correct seating. If necessa‐
ry, replace the cable gland. It is possible to install specially
certified cable and conductor glands, reducing inserts as well
as blanking and sealing plugs.
Remove unused blanking plugs and reducing inserts from
the cable glands. Route the cables through the cable glands
and then into the enclosure (thread side to the enclosure).
Only permanently installed cables and lines may be inserted.
Note:
Ensure that the cables are correctly sealed (see section
"Tools and tightening torques (Page 149)")
Connect the cables to the connections of the CFU (FB<n>
and DIQ<n>).
Observe the pin assignment on the plug connector:
● See section "Connecting a sensor / final controlling
element to the CFU (Page 42)"
● See section "Connecting a PROFIBUS PA field device
(Page 41)"
Connect the cables to the connections of the CFU (FB<n>
and DIQ<n>). Observe the pin assignment of the plugs (see
section "Terminal assignment of the CFU PA (Page 146)").
