Compact Field Unit in the enclosure for use in a hazardous area
11.3 Configuration with SIMATIC CFU PA bundle with aluminum enclosure
Depending on the application, you may need to remove or reinstall the reducing insert and/or
the blanking plugs. Whenever possible, set aside any components that you have removed so
that you can use them again if the configuration changes.
It is possible to install specially certified cable and conductor glands, as well as blanking and
sealing plugs in the aluminum enclosure.
Connecting and disconnecting the cables to the CFU
● When laying cables and wiring, observe the following:
– Area of use
– Installation regulations in accordance with EN 60079‑14
– Country-specific regulations.
● Ensure that intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe cables are completely separate
during wiring. Install these cables in separate cable conduits.
● Use cable type A, e.g. PB FC Process Cable (blue) as the bus cable, 6XV1830‑5EH10.
● Before connecting them, the cables must be stripped over the specified length.
● Observe the regulations in your country during commissioning.
Rules for connecting a spur line on FB0 to FB7
Explosion hazard
It is forbidden to open the enclosure during operation in the Zone 22 hazardous area.
De-energize the CFU before carrying out any work on it.
