Testing the viewfinder

Adjust the viewfinder position.

Check that the color bars are displayed in the
viewfinder, and adjust the BRIGHT, CONTRAST,
and PEAKING controls to obtain the best color bar
display.

Set the VF DISP switch to ON and check that the
safety zone marker, center zone marker, and
character display appear on the viewfinder screen.
Set the VF DISP switch to OFF and check that the
various displays go off.

(1) Set the VF DISP switch to MENU and check
that the OPERATION menu appears on the
viewfinder screen.
(2) Turn the MENU SEL control/button and check
that the m cursor moves. Press the MENU
SEL control/button and check that the page can
be selected.

Change the setting of the FILTER slector and
check that the filter indication on the viewfinder
screen changes accordingly.

(1) Set the SHUTTER switch to ON and check
that the "
" lights up.
(2) Push the SHUTTER switch repeatedly from
ON to SEL and check that the shutter speed/
mode indicator in the viewfinder changes
accordingly.

(1) Set the OUTPUT/DCC switch to CAM.
(2) Aim the lens to a suitable subject and turn the
focusing ring to adjust the focus.
(3) Check that the image appears on the
viewfinder screen.

Set the ZEBRA switch to ON and check that a
zebra pattern appears on the viewfinder screen.
Set the ZEBRA switch to OFF and check that the
zebra pattern disappears.
Testing the iris and zoom functions
1
(1) Set the zoom to automatic.
(2) Check that lens changes to telephoto and wide-
angle through electronic operation, and that the
zoom position indication on the viewfinder
screen changes accordingly.

(1) Set the zoom to manual.
(2) Check that lens changes to telephoto and wide-
angle through manual operation, and that the
zoom position indication on the viewfinder
screen changes accordingly.

(1) Set the iris to automatic.
(2) Point the camera at objects of different
brightnesses, and check that the iris is
automatically adjusted.

(1) Set the iris to manual.
(2) Turn the iris ring, and check that the iris is
manually adjusted.

Hold down the instant auto iris button on the lens
and point the camera at objects of different
brightnesses. Check that the automatic iris
adjustment is made.
6
(1) Set the iris back to automatic.
(2) Check the following points while the GAIN
selector is moved from L / M / H:
• For objects of the same brightness, the iris is
adjusted to correspond to the change in setting.
• The gain indication on the viewfinder screen
changes according to the change in the setting.
• The "
" indication lights up when the setting
is not 0 dB.
