2-2 Controls
@™ OUTPUT/DCC (output signal/Dynamic
Contrast Control) selector
Selects the signal (color bar signal or video signal) to
be output to the viewfinder, the VTR connector and
the TEST OUT connector while turning on or off the

function.
The settings of this selector and their effects are as
follows:
BARS, DCC OFF
A color bar signal is output. The DCC function is not activated.
When you change the selector from CAM, DCC ON to this
position while the MESSAGE setting in the VF DISPLAY items of
OPERATION menu is set to ON, the indication "DCC: OFF"
appears for about 3 seconds on the viewfinder screen.
CAM, DCC OFF
The video signal is output. The DCC function is not
activated.
When you change the selector from CAM, DCC ON to
this position while the MESSAGE setting in the VF
DISPLAY items of OPERATION menu is set to ON,
the indication "DCC:OFF" appears for about 3
seconds on the viewfinder screen.

The video signal is output and the DCC function is activated.
When you change the selector to this position while the
MESSAGE setting in the VF DISPLAY items of OPERATION
menu is set to ON, the indication "DCC:ON" appears for about 3
seconds on the viewfinder screen.
Set this selector to BARS, DCC OFF in the following
cases:
• When adjusting a video monitor connected to the
video camera.
• When adjusting the color bar signal.
Note
When you change the setting of this selector from
BARS, DCC OFF to CAM, DCC ON, the lens iris,
when set for manual adjustment, may not return to its
exact previous state.
You should therefore check the iris opening before
starting to shoot.

1) DCC (Dynamic Contrast Control) (AUTO KNEE)
When shooting against a very bright background with the
iris opening adjusted to the subject, objects in the
background will be lost in the glare. In such cases, the
DCC function will restore much of the lost detail.

@£ WHITE BAL (white balance memory) selector
Selects the white balance adjustment method and the
white balance memory bank to be used.
When you change the setting of this selector while the
MESSAGE setting in the VF DISPLAY items of
OPERATION menu is set to ON, the new setting
appears in the message display area of the viewfinder
screen for about 3 seconds.
(Examples: "WHITE: Ach." "WHITE:PRESET")
@¢ CA mount
CAM
Mounts a CA-550/550P Camera Adaptor.
@∞ VTR/CA connector (68x2-pin)
ON
Connects the 68x2-pin connector of equipment
mounted on the CA mount.
@§ Betacam adaptor mounting screw
Use these screws to mount the CA-553 Betacam
Adaptor.
@¶ CA screw
Tighten the screw to fix the CA-550/550P Camera
Adaptor to the video camera.
PRST (preset): The video camera is adjusted to the
preset white balance value for the color
temperature of 3200K.
A or B: White balance memory bank A or B is
selected. When you push the AUTO W/B BAL
switch to WHT, the white balance is adjusted for
the color temperature corresponding to the setting
of the FILTER selector. The adjusted white
balance value is stored in the selected memory.
The memory banks can store 4 white balance
values each, for a total of 8.
This function is effective when high contrast is involved,
as in the following cases:
• When shooting people in the shade under a clear sky.
• When shooting people in front of a window against a
bright background outside.
