If automatic white balance is not possible
If the white balance adjustment cannot be completed
normally, an error message will appear for about three
seconds on the viewfinder screen.
The various error messages that may appear are as
follows:
White balance adjustment error messages
Error message
Meaning
WHITE:NG
The white video level is too low.
LEVEL TOO LOW
Either make the lighting brighter or
increase the gain.
WHITE: NG
The color temperature is too high.
COLOR TEMP. HIGH
Select a suitable filter setting.
WHITE:NG
The color temperature is too low.
COLOR TEMP. LOW
Select a suitable filter setting.
WHITE:NG
Adjustment could not be completed
TIME LIMIT
within the standard number of
attempts.
WHITE:NG
The white area was not recognized.
POOR WHITE AREA
WHITE:NG
The white video level is too high.
LEVEL TOO HIGH
Either narrow the lens iris opening
or change the ND filter.
If one of the above error messages is displayed, try
adjusting the white balance again. If the error message
still appears, an internal check is necessary.
For details on the internal check, refer to the maintenance
manual.
If there is no time for white balance
adjustment
Set the WHITE BAL selector to PRST. The white
balance is automatically set according to the setting of
the FILTER selector (OHB-550/550P/550WS/
550WSP only, outer FILTER ring).
White balance memory
Values stored in memory are saved for about one week
due to the built-in backup battery when the video
camera is turned off.
Two memories are provided for storing white balance
values: memories A and B. When you press the
AUTO W/B BAL switch to WHT, the white balance is
automatically adjusted according to the current
FILTER selector setting, and the adjustment value is
stored in the selected memory. Each memory can save
4 settings for a total of 8 settings. In the SYSTEM
CONFIG menu, each memory can be restricted to 1
setting. In this case, the memory contents do not
correspond to the filter setting.
