4-1 Adjusting the Black Balance and White Balance

To obtain consistently high picture quality as you use
the video camera, it may become necessary to adjust
the black balance and white balance, depending on the
conditions.
When to adjust the black balance
• When the video camera is first used.
• When video camera has not been used for a long
time.
• When the temperature conditions have changed
greatly.
• When the GAIN selector values have been changed
through menu settings.
There is normally no need to adjust the black balance
when the camera is turned on.
When to adjust the white balance
Adjust the white balance whenever the lighting
conditions change.
Display on the viewfinder screen
If you start adjusting the black balance or white
balance adjustment, messages indicating the
adjustment progress and results appear on the
viewfinder screen.
Notes
Automatic adjustments and setting values are saved in
the video camera's memory, even when the power is
turned off. This information, however, is lost when
the backup battery on the AT-95 board, which has a
battery life of 1 year, becomes exhausted. If the battery
voltage is low, a warning appears in the viewfinder
when you turn on the unit. Replace the backup battery
with the new one within a few days. If you do not
replace the backup battery, the adjustment and setting
values in the video camera's memory will be lost.
