Troubleshooting Guide

PROBABLE CAUSE
Coulter gangs uneven depth
Unit not level when under power in the field
Excessive coulter gang depth or down
pressure
Tire pressure too low
Unit not level front to rear
Wing frame and center frame not level
Lift cylinders not in phase
Fold cylinders not fully extended to allow
wings to flex
Lift wheels not carrying enough weight
Unit not level front to rear
Lift wheels not carrying enough weight
Wing frames and center frame not level to
each other
Gauge wheels not set correctly or uneven
Unit not level
Coulters not cutting residue
Twisted shovels throwing soil wrong
direction
Heavy residue
Unit not level
Excessive coulter depth
Points worn
Triple-lip seals not installed correctly

SOLUTION
Adjust depth/rephase coulter gang
cylinders (See "Hydraulic Coulter
Gang Lift System" on page 4-6.)
Level unit front to rear (See "Leveling
(Front-to-Rear)" on page 4-7.)
Reduce coulter depth.
Check inflation.
Adjust unit to be level (See "Leveling
(Front-to-Rear)" on page 4-7.)
Level wing frames to center frame (See
"Leveling (Side to Side)" on
page 4-8.)
Fully extend lift cylinders and hold
hydraulic lever until all cylinders are
fully extended.
Extend fold cylinders fully.
Adjust depth stop and raise implement.
Adjust unit to be level.
Adjust depth stop and raise implement
Level wing frames to center frame (See
"Leveling (Side to Side)" on
page 4-8.)
Set gauge wheels properly.
Level machine (See "Leveling
(Front-to-Rear)" on page 4-7.)
Adjust coulter depth
Install shovels (See Figures 2-1 thru
2-16.)
Install optional offset shank mounts to
stagger back row of shanks
Level unit front to rear (See "Leveling
(Front-to-Rear)" on page 4-7.)
Reduce depth
Install new points
Install seals with the lips pointing outward
away from the hub.
