TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEM
HYDRAULIC - COULTER LIFT
CYLINDERS NOT FULLY EXTENDING
HYDRAULIC - ENTIRE UNIT SETTLING
HYDRAULIC - UNIT SETTLING, ONE
WING RAISING
HYDRAULIC - WING SETTLING
COULTER GANG PLUGGING
COULTER GANG WILL NOT TURN OR
PUSHES SOIL
COULTER BLADES LOOSE AND/OR
SHEARING ROLL PIN

PROBABLE CAUSE
Lift cylinders not in phase
Cylinders not installed in proper series
Hoses not properly connected
Depth stop valve not working
Center frame cylinder leaking internally on
side of unit that wing is raising
Wing cylinder leaking
Operating depth too deep
Conditions too wet
Depth set too deep for loose or wet
conditions
Gang bearing failure
Gang not tightened properly
SOLUTION
Fully extend cylinders and hold hydraulic
lever until all cylinders are fully
extended.
Wing cylinders are smaller diameter than
center cylinders. Reinstall cylinders
properly.
Check hose routing
Repair valve
Repair center master cylinder.
Repair cylinder.
Raise unit.
Wait until conditions more favorable.
Raise implement or wait until conditions
are more favorable
Replace bearing
Retighten gang shafts to 1200-1500 ft.-lbs.
If gangs have ran loose, gangs may
require disassembly to remove soil to
properly torque gang shafts. Replace
any worn components, shafts/spools,
etc.
